Rachel Nelson is the recipient of the AAUW American Dissertation Fellowship. AAUW, the Association of American University Women, is a foundation which advances equality for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. It has been in existence since 1888, making it the oldest non-institutional source of graduate funding for women in the United States. The AAUW provides prestigious fellowships for women writing their dissertations, and it also has granting programs in place to support research and publication.
