Visual Studies Doctoral Candidate Brinker Ferguson was awarded a Neukom Post-doctoral Fellowship at Dartmouth College in January of 2018. As a Neukom post-doc fellow she will be responsible for teaching courses in digital heritage that will be cross listed in the anthropology, art history, computer science, and digital media departments. In addition, she will continue to conduct research and develop hardware and software tools that help conservators and heritage professionals quantifiably track deterioration rate to objects through scientific imaging technologies.
Brinker Ferguson’s research lies at the intersection of digital heritage, computational photography, and indigenous agency. Her dissertation project “Recalibrating the Museum: The Politics of Stewardship and the Physical/Digital Repatriation of Te Hau-Ki-Turanga” focused on the 3D documentation of a Maori meetinghouse, currently at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa. Brinker successfully defended her dissertation in April of 2018.
