Thanks to the Fulbright-Hays, Gaby is doing research in Peru during 2019 for the completion of her dissertation on women's Indigenous textiles of the colonial period in the Andean region. She is researching in the archives and local museums and churches, examining how Indigenous textiles were produced, circulated, and represented in the colonial space and particularly how textiles interfaced with ideas and ideology regarding landscape, land use, and territory.

Gaby traveled to Cusco, Peru in 2017 with a Betty Meggers/AreNet fellowship and the Fulbright-Hays award is helping her continue the research she began then as well as giving her valuable time to write out the first chapters of her dissertation.
