Lorraine Affourtit presented her research on The Oaxaca Commune at the Latin American and Iberian Institute, University of New Mexico

Lorraine presented "Resistance is Fertile:  Graphic Art, Collective Identity, and Public Space in the Oaxaca Commune" at the Latin American and Iberian Institute, University of New Mexico, on September 22, 2016. Lorraine was at UNM as a Richard E. Greenleaf Visiting Library Scholar. In her paper she explored how elements of the layered visual environment manifested in the protests of the summer of 2006 in Oaxaca, Mexico - known as The Oxaca Commune.
