In April and May 2018, Tatiane curated LAND+BODY=Escape, an exhibition featuring fifteen emerging Brazilian artists based across the US and Brazil. The exhibition was one of the winners of NARS Foundation's Curatorial Open Call and opened in New York in May, following an initial edition presented in Miami by The55Project. LAND+BODY=Escape subverts traditional representations of Brazilian landscapes and bodies. The artists escape, while also seizing upon, emblematic images of Brazilianness: from beachfronts to the Amazon rainforest, to the urban megacity. With a majority of women artists represented, identity, race, gender, and sexuality become either underlying themes or are an integral part of their art-making processes. The landscape and the body are re-imagined throughout the show: conflated, or fragmented, parts of blurred, destabilizing memories.
