“Of Words and Flowers: Adorning the Body of God in Tamil Hinduism” with Archana Venkatesan (Department of Comparative Literature and Religious Studies, UC Davis)

In this lecture, Professor Venkatesan will explore the use of alankara (ornamentation) of the body of god. Focusing on the Tamil Vaishnava traditions, she will argue that alankara functions to convey specific understandings about the nature of divinity in Tamil Hinduism.
