Making Home under Precarious Housing Conditions: The Experiences of Latinxs in Los Angeles, CA

Affordable housing in the United States is increasingly out of reach for many people, especially the most disadvantaged communities. Drawing from 45 in-depth interviews conducted in Spanish and English in Southeast, East, and South Los Angeles, my research demonstrates that Latinx communities are experiencing precarious housing conditions as a result of their citizenship status, low-wages, and unwanted mobility. I also show my study participants' resilience and dignity and the strategies they use to create and make sense of home.
