crystal am nelson co-presented with Tomeka Hayes, UC Santa Cruz Feminist Studies Ph.D. student, “Womb Culture,” a paper that proposes a theory-in-praxis aimed toward creating homosocial communities of radical feminist futurists of color. nelson’s and Hayes’s methodology takes a cue from the speculations and experiments of such writers as Octavia Butler and Toni Morrison, such theorists as Jennifer C. Nash and bell hooks, and such artist projects as Womanhouse.
