Refract: An Open Access Visual Studies Journal publishes first issue in Fall 2018

VS Graduate student-run journal is off to a strong start
July 2, 2018

Refract is a graduate-student initiative in the Visual Studies program that aims to provide a non-canonical platform for the discussion of visual culture through an expansive, multi-disciplinary, and experimental lens. The editorial board consists of eight Visual Studies graduate students and three advisory faculty members from the History of Art and Visual Culture department. The journal released its first Call for Papers in Fall 2017 and received numerous submissions from across the globe on the theme of “refraction.” The first issue will be published in Fall 2018 through eScholarship, the UC open access publishing platform. The next Call For Papers will also be released with the first issue, so stay tuned!
