A Warm Welcome to Kailani Polzak, Assistant Professor of History of Art and Visual Culture

The HAVC Department is pleased to welcome Assistant Professor Kailani Polzak as the newest member of our faculty. Kailani was a HAVC major at UC Santa Cruz, so she is very familiar with the department! She also earned a Ph.D. in History of Art from UC Berkeley. Kailani's research focuses on European visual culture in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries with particular attention to histories of science, aesthetic philosophy, race, colonialism, and intercultural contact in Oceania. She also maintains a methodological interest in the questions raised by writing about and curating colonial histories from multiple perspectives. Please join us in welcoming her to the HAVC Department!
