Voices in Contemporary Art: Strategies for Interviewing Contemporary Artists

The artist’s voice is essential for developing new interpretations and understanding of art and cultural history. This workshop will discuss approaches to conducting interviews with contemporary artists from production to presentation. Topics will include: how to develop interview questions, suggestions for approaching and working with artists, recommendations for recording equipment, tips for transcribing, and production of artist videos for social media.

Marion Cadora is a visiting lecturer in the department of History of Art + Visual Culture at UCSC. Concurrently she holds a position as the  Assistant Curator of the John Young Museum of Art and lecturer of art history and museum studies at University of Hawai‘i Mānoa. Previously, Marion worked as a researcher and educator at the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the University of Goroka in Papua New Guinea.
