Alex Moore to Participate in NEH Summer Institute, “Arts of Survival: Recasting Lives in African Cities”

June 7, 2016

Alex has been invited to participate in the NEH funded Summer Institute, “Arts of Survival: Recasting Lives in African Cities” hosted by the Institute for Advanced Study at Indiana University Bloomington. The institute will explore contemporary urban culture and arts in African and African diaspora cities--Accra, Lagos, Nairobi, New Orleans and Port-au-Prince. The goal of the institute is “to examine how art engages the political and social hierarchies embedded in these cities and often recasts marginal or precarious lives into lives that exceed their constraining structures.”
