Amber Hickey presents paper at the College Art Association Annual Conference in Los Angeles

In February 2018, Amber Hickey presented a paper, “Sovereign Women’s Voices Against the Exploitation of ‘Resource Frontiers,’ ” at the College Art Association's Annual Conference in Los Angeles. Through highlighting the work of two women led initiatives, Arnait Video Productions and the Place Names Program, the paper illustrates how Inuit employ visual media to publicly wage place-based knowledge as a mode of creative intervention against state-supported military and extractive forces. Amber's presentation was part of the "Feminist Art in Response to the State" panel, organized by The Feminist Art Project.
