Rebele Endowed Chair

Enhancing the scholarly experience for generations of students and faculty to come

In 1996, Patricia and Rowland Rebele pledged a gift to the University of California Santa Cruz Foundation in the amount of $250,000 to create the Patricia and Rowland Rebele Endowed Chair in History of Art and Visual Culture.  Patricia Rebele graduated from UCSC in 1988 with a B.A. in art history and the Rebeles have long given generously in support of the arts.

The purpose of the Patricia and Rowland Rebele Endowed Chair is to strengthen the study of History of Art and Visual Culture at UCSC, to enhance the scholarly experience for generations of students and faculty to come, and to forge new and creative links between UCSC’s History of Art and Visual Culture department and the larger Santa Cruz arts community.  Since its inception, the Chair has increased the visibility of the arts in Santa Cruz through its support of symposia, exhibitions, experimental courses, and conferences.

Professor TJ Demos currently holds the chair.  For a list of past events and programs supported by the Rebele Chair, please click on the menu links that appear at the right-hand side of the page.
