Prospective students can make an advising appointment to learn more about the program!
HAVC ADVISING HOURS
The HAVC office has regular advising hours. Please schedule an appointment in advance.
Monday-Thursday 9-12:30, 1:30-4
No advising on Fridays
SENIOR GRAD CHECK
All students graduating during the current academic year must schedule a senior graduation check, preferably during fall quarter. The meeting will help ensure that you are on track to complete the HAVC program requirements by your estimated graduation date and will prevent any last-minute surprises. Some courses within specific regions are only offered once a year so make sure you meet with the undergraduate advisor in the fall to plan your upcoming year.
TRANSFER CREDIT PETITION PROCESS
All new transfer students should make an advising appointment fall quarter (preferably after your transfer credits have posted on your student portal). Many courses have standing articulation agreements, which you can check on ASSIST.org before your advising meeting. For courses without pre-existing agreements, you need to complete the petition process. Majors can transfer a maximum of three lower-division courses from community colleges.
The same process needs to be completed for students with transfer credits from other universities or state schools. A maximum of three lower-division and two upper-division courses can count towards the HAVC major. Students can transfer up to 3 lower-division courses towards the minor.
DECLARING THE HAVC MAJOR/MINOR
Students are eligible to declare the HAVC major after completing two HAVC courses from different regions. This also applies to incoming transfer students with approved courses from at least two different regions. Students can declare a minor at any time.
